While you know everyone who is part of the group, the sender of a particular message is hidden. In a nutshell, you would know the message is from one of the members of the group but won’t know who the exact person is.

Disappearing Messages
Messages disappear after 25 messages in a first in first out manner, adding more strength to privacy

All the messages being exchanged are not stored in the server & are stored on the device itself.
