SkySpeed: Watch Speedometer

SkySpeed shows one thing, in the largest digits your watch can fit: how fast you are going right now.

It was built for the wrist from the start, not shrunk down from a phone app. There are no ads, no accounts, no sign-up, and nothing to configure before it works. Open it and it reads your speed.

WHAT IT DOES

• Live GPS speed in large, glanceable digits
• Runs entirely on your watch, with no phone connection needed
• The screen stays on the whole time the app is open, so the reading never disappears mid-glance
• Tap to change the colour of the readout: red, green, blue, or white
• Drag up or down to set the brightness, independently of your watch's system brightness
• Tells you plainly when it has no GPS fix, instead of showing a stale number
• Your colour and brightness are remembered for next time

BUILT FOR A ROUND SCREEN

The digits are sized to fill a circular display and shrink automatically for three-figure speeds, so nothing is ever clipped. The layout is pure black, which on an OLED watch means the unlit pixels draw no power.

NO ADS, NO TRACKING

SkySpeed does not collect your location. It reads your speed from the GPS receiver, puts it on screen, and discards it. Nothing is stored, nothing is transmitted, and there is no analytics or advertising code anywhere in the app. Location is only ever requested while the app is open.

A NOTE ON BATTERY

An accurate speedometer needs a GPS fix every second and a screen that stays lit, and both cost power. SkySpeed is designed to be opened when you want it and closed when you are done, rather than left running all day.
