User Reviews

Reviews portray Amaze File Manager as generally easy-to-use, ad-free, and feature-rich with root access, SMB2 LAN, and strong file/path visibility. However, users repeatedly report stability issues, including crashes and unresponsive settings. FTP features are confusing or incomplete, with requests for FTP client use and external-disk access left unmet. UI concerns include space-wasting top bar and incompatibilities with newer Android versions. Several feature gaps and bugs persist in file operations, such as tar extraction errors, missing grid-view file sizes, and no empty trash button. Overall it's well-regarded but reliability and feature gaps hamper broader adoption.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a clean UI and straightforward navigation.
  • Ad‑free experience and efficient performance, with root access available.
  • SMB 2 LAN support enabling easy local network access.
  • Provides clear path visibility and SD-card access.
  • Broad device/file visibility with root-enabled file management.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability, including unresponsive settings.
  • FTP features are confusing or incomplete (no FTP client capability; external-disk access limits).
  • UI clutter/space concerns and compatibility issues with newer Android versions.
  • Missing or buggy file operations (tar extraction errors; grid-view lacks file size; no empty trash button).

Can't get it to connect to my Windows PC through SMB ("Oops, an error occurred", nor to my Linux boxes through SSH ("Unable to connect. Class confi..."). No problems connecting to either through Solid Explorer.
