Copper Chest: Lockpick Game

A needle sweeps the face of an old lock. Somewhere on that dial sits a lit ward. Tap as the needle crosses it and a pin drops. Miss, and your pick snaps.

That is the whole of it: one tap, three picks, five pins to a chest. Lock picking as a test of timing and nerve rather than patience — a reflex arcade game in the old sense, with one verb and no filler.

THE WARDS

Not every pin behaves. As you go deeper the lock starts fighting back:

• Ghost wards stay invisible until the needle is nearly on them
• Creeping wards slide around the dial while you aim
• Twin wards want both halves, in any order
• Brittle wards start wide and close while you hesitate

Each carries its own mark on the dial, so you read the rule at a glance. No tutorial and nothing to read — you will work it out in about four seconds.

THE CHESTS

Copper. Silver. Gold. Obsidian. And, if your hands are steadier than most, the Leviathan Vault. Opening a chest hands a pick back, so a deep run can survive an early fumble. The whole lock re-tints as you climb, so you always know what you are picking.

DEAD CENTRE

Strike the middle of a ward and it counts double, and keeps counting: a clean run stacks a multiplier that one fumble takes away. Anyone can open a copper chest. Opening it perfectly is a different game — precision timing, nothing else.

ABOUT THE ADS

The game is free and carries one full-screen ad, shown between runs and never during one. Your first few runs are clean, and there is a hard cap after that, so a short session usually sees nothing at all. Nothing is ever placed over the dial, and no ad can interrupt a pick.

HOW IT BEHAVES

• Ads appear only between runs — never while you are picking
• No accounts, no sign-in, no profile
• No analytics of ours; your best score stays on your phone
• Plays offline — the lock needs no network, only the ad does
• Its own haptics toggle, and it respects your silent switch

Every sound in the game is synthesised and every pixel is drawn in code, so the whole thing stays small enough to keep on a phone you are short of space on.
