Chiddi Udd Kaa Udd

Five party games that need nothing but the phone in the middle of the table — and, if you want it, everybody else's phone too.

It starts with the playground game. Everyone puts a finger on their own ring, a word is called out, and the whole table answers at once: lift your finger for yes, keep it down for no. The slow and the twitchy go red. The app opens with that game told as an illustrated story, so nobody has to be taught the rules out loud.

FIVE GAMES
• Chiddi Udd — the classic. A word is called and the table decides: does it fly? Seven question packs and about 1,400 words, each with the name it is actually called by at home
• Quick Draw — no words at all. Hold still through a pause that is never the same length twice, and the slowest finger off the glass is out. Move early and you are out before it starts
• Colour Call — every ring is dealt a new colour each round and one colour is called. Lift only if yours matches. Your colour changes under your finger, so there is nothing to memorise
• Mind the Maths — a sum lands with its answer already filled in. Lift if it is right, stay if it is a lie. The numbers grow the longer you last
• The Chooser — fingers down, the light runs round the table and stops on somebody. Who's it, who pays, who goes first

PLAY ON YOUR OWN PHONES
One device opens a room, the rest find it on the same Wi-Fi, and everybody plays on the phone in their own hand — your own finger, your own timing, the whole table live on every screen. No account, no sign-in, and nothing leaves your network. A phone somewhere else can join by typing the host's address.

SEVEN QUESTION PACKS
Anything that flies · Birds only · Lives in water · Things you can eat · Living things · Things with wheels · In the house. The genuinely arguable ones — the penguin, the bat, the hippo, ice as food — carry a one-line ruling the game shows after the round, so the table does not have to take anyone's word for it.

WRITE YOUR OWN
Type any yes-or-no question and add your own words, marked lift or stay. Does it swim? Is it in our house? Would Dadi eat it? Every table ends up with a pack nobody else has.

THE WORD AND NOTHING ELSE
The caller says the word out loud and the screen shows the word alone — what kind of thing it is and what it is called in Hindi stay behind a tap, so the round is answered from the word, not read off the screen. Switch to ears-only and the screen shows nothing at all, exactly the way the game is played on a playground. The voice can be turned on or off from any screen, mid-round.

MAKE IT MEAN SOMETHING
Reaction window from 1.2 to 2.5 seconds. Knockout after 1, 2 or 3 strikes, or leave it off and play until the chai is cold. A scoreboard after every game and records kept per game on the device.

Two to ten players. Phones and tablets, portrait or landscape — the bigger the screen, the more fingers fit. No accounts and no sign-in.

The game is free and paid for by ads — a banner on the menus and an occasional full-screen ad after a game ends. Never during a round: with up to ten fingers on the glass, an ad under one of them would be a tap nobody meant, so there is nothing there to tap. No in-app purchases, ever.
