User Reviews

Aimchess is praised for effective learning features like scouting/mistake replays and detailed reports that guide targeted practice, with personalization tools that aid improvement. However, recurring issues include heavy paywalls, payment/subscription problems, in-app web navigation traps, login/account bugs, and inconsistent UI/compatibility. These reliability and monetization problems appear across multiple reviews, suggesting strong educational value tempered by usability and access flaws that the developers should address.

Pros

Scouting feature and the ability to replay mistakes helps identify weaknesses and focus practice.
Detailed progress reports summarize past games to pinpoint which aspects to improve.
Personalization tools (intuition trainer and personalized mistakes drills) support targeted learning.
Overall strong potential to improve chess with structured practice and analytics.

Cons

Heavy paywall and premium pricing lock most content behind a subscription.
Subscription/payment issues (errors when subscribing, limited payment options such as missing Google Pay).
In-app browser/navigation traps users in external pages or Google search results, making it hard to return to the app.
Login/account management problems (cannot login or is forced to login with multiple accounts).
UI/UX and device compatibility issues (absolutely terrible UI and screen sizing problems on certain devices).

A few bugs but otherwise a great app. This is my favourite app outside of Chess com and Lichess. It is so helpful to be able to do puzzles and challenges based on your own games. One issue is that if you click on the link to show what game the position came from, you get stuck and cannot navigate back. Another is that having set up my account on the app to log in via Google, there is no Google log in for the website and no means that I can see of changing my log in details in the app.
