BAKWATA ONLINE UNIVERSITY is a religious and nonprofit institution in TANZANIA, the idea of which came about nearly 4 years ago, in 2021. Mufti of Tanzania Dr.Abubakar Zubeir founded Bakwata Online Academy in 2021 for providing short courses in Leadership,management,madrasa teaching methodologies, arabic language, English language and other several courses for Imams, madrasa teachers and muslims leaders in Tanzania.

Mufti and Chief Sheikh Dr.Abubakar Zubeir has been an integral part of the community for several years, when he began teaching islam in various institutions as well as delivering sermons in various mosques and gatherings. It was during this time that his popularity in Tanzania and abroad began to grow due to his ability to apply Islamic teachings to contemporary African societies while reviving traditional approaches to the study of Islam. It was the increased interest from several dedicated students, which led him to officially found and establishing online institutions like Bakwata Online Academy and University to teach Islam for all.
