Shaktishree is a flagship initiative of the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, launched on July 19, 2025, to ensure the safety, security, and empowerment of female students in higher education institutions. Implemented across 16 universities and 730 government and aided colleges, the program addresses critical concerns through institutional reforms, technological solutions, and awareness campaigns.

The Shaktishree Mobile App is a central component of this initiative, providing a secure, accessible platform for complaint redressal, mentorship, and support services.

Key Features of the Shaktishree Program and App:

Empowerment Cells: Dedicated institutional cells to create a safe and supportive environment for female students.

Self-Defense Training: Practical programs to help students develop safety skills and confidence.

CCTV Surveillance: Expanded coverage in college and university campuses to enhance real-time security monitoring.

Mental Health Support: Counseling services to address stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

SAFE Campaign (Shaktishree Actions for Female Empowerment): Awareness drives to promote gender equality, rights, and inclusivity.

Campus Safety Reports: Mandatory annual safety audits to ensure accountability and continual improvement.
