Sendas de Valdemorillo

The "Senda de los Hornos and Forts of Valdemorillo" is a lovely circular route fourteen kilometers long that offers both walkers and cyclists a unique view of the foot of the mountains, the ramp and the countryside of Madrid. Landscapes, flora and fauna, are adapting to a changing land full of contrasts. The lime kilns and pottery kilns, along with pillboxes and other signs of military architecture of the Civil War, will surprise the visitor. Nature, history and tradition in its purest form.

Tour eminently natural, whose beginnings in the old town of Valdemorillo, allow us to see examples of traditional architecture; which have continuity in the cattle route, as livestock uses, mainly linked to grazing sheep and goats, are still present in this area.
As for the vegetation, the oaks, the ramp, and Retamar, of the countryside, are the main formations. Both have a huge floristic diversity; enriched by a fauna which greatly emphasize the ubiquitous rabbits, the best claim for our most endangered Iberian bird, the imperial eagle, which lies east of the Sierra Oeste environment privileged place to feed.
