Blocky Blast

Drag a block into an empty space and fill a line to clear it. That is the whole rule — and one careless drop is all it takes to run out of room.

■ 8x8, no timer
You get three blocks at a time, and a new set of three arrives once you have placed them all. Fill any row or column and it clears. Nothing is counting down, so take as long as you like on each drop.

■ The combo is where the points are
Placing a block scores one point per cell it fills. Clearing scores double per cell removed, plus a combo bonus that grows with every clear in a row. Go six placements without clearing anything and the combo resets — the flame on screen shows how much slack you have left.

■ See the result before you commit
While you drag, the cells you are about to fill light up, and any line that would clear is tinted ahead of time. No guessing where a piece lands.

■ One more chance when you get stuck
When a good run hits a dead end, you can watch a video and keep going. Your board and score stay exactly as they were and you get three fresh blocks. Twice per run.

■ Today's best
Your best score for the day is kept, and it starts fresh when the date rolls over. Everyone begins at zero each morning.
