This book was created to heal, soften and reform hearts. Ibn al-Jawzi arranged it in the following order: He mentions a chapter on the saints and the righteous, then he adds it by mentioning our Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and explaining his conditions, etiquette, and what is related to him.
Then after that, those of his companions who were famous for their knowledge combined with asceticism and devotion, and after that he discussed their classes in merit, then he mentioned the chosen women among the Companions according to that law, then the Successors and those after them according to their classes in their countries. Then Ibn al-Jawzi traveled with his thoughts from east to west, and he extracted everyone who could be mentioned in this book from all the places, and he listed the people of each town in it and arranged them according to their classes, starting with the men whose names he knew, then after that he mentioned those whose names were not known, and when he finished, he mentioned female worshippers. That country follows that law, and perhaps among the people of the country there are sane and insane men and women who remember him and remember him. Then he mentions after that one of the worshipers whose name or place is not known, and he mentions some of the stories of young girls who spoke in the words of adult worshippers. After that, he mentioned some of the stories of the jinn’s worshipers with which he concluded this book and which was verified in two parts.
