Betinia

Betinia is a quiet matching puzzle built on one unusual movement. You never swap two neighbours. You take hold of a blossom and the entire row travels with it, or the entire column if you drag up or down.

Every row and every column is a closed ring. A blossom pushed off the right edge comes straight back in on the left, and one pushed off the top reappears at the bottom, so nothing is ever lost and a ring can be turned as far as you like. Two long slides can bring a blossom from one corner to the opposite one without disturbing anything else.

Three or more of the same blossom in a row or a column drop out of the wreath. Everything above falls into the gap and fresh blossoms arrive from the top, which means one good slide often keeps paying for several cascades.

The cost is honest. Any slide spends one from your allowance, whether it finds a line or not, so this is a game about turning the ring in your head first and only then with your finger.

Eighteen wreaths make the collection. Each one asks for a number of two particular blossoms, peony, camellia, magnolia, iris, lotus or aster, and the later wreaths bring a sixth flower in to thin out the board.

Petals are pressed for your first wreath, your longest cascade, your first full turn of a ring and your four hundredth slide. A garland board keeps your best wreath score next to the other florists. All progress is stored on this device and one button in the settings clears it.
