'Vindolanda: The Missing Dead' is an educational 2D narrative game designed for Key Stage 2 students, set at Roman Vindolanda. Players follow Marcus, a Tribune, as he seeks to uncover the mystery of a missing slave, guided by Aquila the Eagle. Through exploration and clue gathering, users learn about 3rd century life, engage with sensitive themes, and experience history as real archaeologists do. The game culminates in a visit to the museum, where users can see actual artifacts and remains that inspired the story.

Quite fun, but too short and mis-represented on site. Unlike a real-view 'hold up your phone and see what it was like', it takes you on a very brief story examining some of the buildings. It kept my 6 year old entertained but disappointed for a bit of a dead end. Obviously built during earlier stages of the excavation, it has great potential and is moderately fun, but needs some more developing. Plus, I'm not sure if the GPS was supposed to work (it asked for permissions) but it did nothing.
