Nagesen is called "saisen" in Japanese. When visiting a shrine, it is common to place coins in a saisen (offering) box and make a votive offering. Saisen boxes are often located at the entrance to the shrine or at the entrance to the shrine pavilion, and have different shapes and materials depending on the shrine.
