Features & Capabilities

FPV Freerider is a realistic RC quadcopter racing simulator designed for enthusiasts who want to practice flying in various conditions without risking damage. It supports both first person view (FPV) and line of sight (LOS) flying modes, alongside self-leveling, acro, and 3D inverted flight modes. The simulator includes six unique sceneries and a procedurally generated track system capable of creating millions of different racing tracks.

Customizable settings allow adjustment of input rates, camera perspectives, and physics to tailor the flying experience. Users can enable low-resolution mode to improve framerate, and a Google Cardboard-style VR view enhances immersion. The application supports multiple controller modes and is compatible with a wide range of physical controllers and gamepads, making it ideal for practicing real RC flight skills. FPV Freerider offers a demanding simulation that accurately mimics real life controls, perfect for drone enthusiasts and pilots seeking to refine their skills anytime, anywhere.

User Reviews

FPV Freerider is praised for its smooth gameplay on low-end devices, compatibility with external controllers, and realistic training value for drone flying enthusiasts. However, multiple users report lag and frame rate drops on various devices, suboptimal on-screen controls, and issues with VR mode. Users also seek more maps and customization, and some have controller configuration challenges. Overall, it is valued as an affordable, practical simulator especially when used with physical controllers.
Pros
  • Runs well even on older or low-end devices with medium/low graphics settings.
  • Supports connection with various external controllers like Xbox and DJI RC2 for improved control.
  • Offers a realistic drone flight simulation experience, useful for beginners and advanced users to practice and develop skills.
  • Good variety of maps and features such as motion blur, 3D mode, and lap timer enhance overall gameplay.
  • Affordable and effective training tool compared to real drone practice, reducing risk of crashes.
Cons
  • Performance issues such as lag and low frame rates on certain devices or maps, even at lowest graphics settings.
  • On-screen touch controls are generally considered poor or less precise compared to using external controllers.
  • VR mode or headset support has had problems, including incorrect image alignment or FOV issues.
  • Limited map variety and options; desire for map creator or more complex maps to enhance practice opportunities.
  • Some users experience issues with controller stick configurations or lack of hover behavior in simulation settings.

I ended up refunding Freerider Recharge because it's to laggy for my low-end phone, but normal Freerider work flawlessly, if you have Realme c30s or any other low-end (aka budget) phone like mine I would recommend not spending your money on recharged and buy normal Freerider version instead, the only difference I noticed to recharged are better graphics, different maps, custom maps maker, have an opinion to change the spot of the Los, that's it, maybe there's more that i didn't not notice

Solid app, I use a couple sims, DJI virtual (too slow), velocidrone on pc (demanding on mobile), and now this for mobile. I needed something to play on an old Samsung tab A, and this actually runs well on medium/low graphics. Surprised since that tablet is slow as hell, won't even install most apps these days. This runs fine and I'm able to hook my DJI rc2 to my tablet or phone. It would be cool to adjust rates a bit more, but not a show stopper at all. Worth the couple bucks!
