Features & Capabilities

Te Araroa - The Trail App is the official free app from the Te Araroa Trust for walking New Zealand’s 3,000 km trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Download the complete route before you leave and navigate without mobile signal or data using offline topographic maps, GPS tracking and detailed trail information.

Plan and track your journey with official northbound or southbound trail notes, elevation profiles, huts, campsites, water sources, hostels, alerts, weather forecasts and offline tide tables. Monitor progress section by section, view route history, receive closure and hazard updates, and discover trail-supporting businesses and volunteer opportunities. The app is designed for backcountry use, but does not replace proper preparation, maps, safety equipment or a personal locator beacon.

User Reviews

Great app. Easy to use with a great graphics map. Could do with a bit more detail. Sometimes so hard to find town names. Maybe a search function. Very useful information but again could do with a post from other trampers function. Like the alerts function. Things to watch out for along the way in real time.

It's a great app especially if you need some help with parts of the hike. Best to use it if you are new to a part of the trail. Sometimes check the area for the signal aswell.
