User Reviews

NoStranger delivers an immersive, cross-media narrative with strong puzzles and memorable characters, yielding lasting appeal. However, multiple reviews cite startup crashes, broken content, and pay-to-hint barriers, plus pacing issues like rapid text and long waits. When it runs smoothly, it stands out in its genre, but stability and accessibility improvements are needed to reach its full potential.
Pros
  • Immersive and realistic narrative with cross-media storytelling (emails, Tumblr, YouTube, Google Maps) that makes the experience feel like real life
  • Strong character connection, especially with Adam, driving emotional engagement
  • Thoughtful puzzles and riddles with satisfying challenges
  • High replay value and lasting appeal; players return years later and praise the experience
  • Rich attention to detail and world-building across multiple platforms creating depth
Cons
  • Startup crashes or the game closing on launch, preventing play
  • Pay-to-hint mechanics that block progress without payment
  • Riddles or their links can be broken or inaccessible, hindering progress
  • Text pacing issues: text can scroll too quickly and saved speed/settings are missing
  • Waiting times can be immersive for some but frustrating for others, affecting pacing

I just finished NoStranger in 2026, almost 9 years after its release, and I honestly can’t believe how well it still works. The blogs, emails, YouTube videos, hidden clues, and the way everything connects made it feel so real. I downloaded this game months ago and left it untouched on my phone, and now it has become one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I got genuinely attached to Adam, and the ending hit me way harder than I expected. The amount of creativity behind this game is ❤️❤

I played this game about a day or two after it came out, so I was experiencing it during the timeline the events were happening in. I remember actually being worried that it was real, and then being a bit sad when I realised it wasn't. I was in tears by the end, crying for people who didn't even exist. I got a bit attached to Adam and had always wondered if there would be some sort of sequel, or even prequel where we got to have him back for a while. And now I've run out of space - 10/10 game.
