User Reviews

Reviews are mixed: the app can provide iOS-like unread badges and works for Gmail when it functions, with a lightweight, mostly ad-free experience. However, reliability issues, device-specific problems, and a complex setup burden many users. Privacy concerns about permissions are also raised. Overall value depends on device and willingness to configure; stability and clear onboarding are key for broader satisfaction.
Pros
  • Unread notification counts appear as badges on apps (including Gmail), delivering an iOS-like experience.
  • Convenient, smart way to add number badges to app notifications.
  • Lightweight and primarily ad-free during regular use (small banner during setup).
  • Users report positive experiences after configuring it and find it useful when it works.
Cons
  • Unreliable on many devices: reports of the app not working at all or counts disappearing after a day.
  • Device-specific compatibility issues (e.g., Motorola Razr 2024; Moto E13) affecting badge visibility.
  • Setup is clunky and per-app widget-based; hard to discover how to configure and often not in the favorites bar.
  • Privacy/permissions concerns: requests broad access to messages, contacts, with unclear data usage terms.
  • Counts can be wrong or not show for certain apps and the app can fail to open initially.

Took a lot of time to get it working on an OPPO Find X9 Pro, but it finally works now, although I do not know why it did not work in the first place. Afterwards it seems that he OPPO itself also can show badge numbers, but Notifier goes a step further by eg. showing in the WhatsApp icon the profile photo of the person who has sent the message.

Very disappointed. My phone had recently been updated to Android 5.0.1 but, despite following the instructions and changing combinations of settings on both the widgets and the app, the red circles do not show. I tried to contact Cornwall Solutions on three occasions, via the given email address, but received no reply. I eventually gave up and uninstalled this app. March 2026. Big improvement, it now shows the red circles generated by the Nova Settings so it's now really useful.
