Virtue is built around a traffic-flow finding from phantom-jam research: smoother speed changes can dampen stop-and-go waves. In a 20-car closed-track study, one controlled vehicle reduced extreme braking by 98 percent and lowered total fuel use across the experiment by 40 percent.
