Features & Capabilities

Chilly Proxy is an optional browser helper from Chilly Proxy (chillyproxy.com). It does not replace your Chilly account or sell proxy plans inside the extension.

What it does

  • Proxy manager — Save host, port, and optional username/password for proxies you already use. Connect or disconnect from the toolbar in one click. Your list is stored only in browser storage on your device.
  • Bandwidth Estimator bridge — On https://chillyproxy.com/tool-bandwidth-estimator only, when a site blocks normal page requests (CORS), the extension can run a HEAD/GET size check you start. Results appear on that page; we do not upload measured URLs or response bodies to our servers.

What it does not do

  • Does not provide proxy IPs or subscriptions by itself.
  • Does not collect browsing history, bookmarks, or website passwords.
  • Does not sell your data or use it for ads.

Permissions (why)

  • storage — local proxy list.
  • proxy — route traffic when you tap Connect.
  • webRequest / webRequestAuthProvider — proxy authentication when required.
  • <all_urls> — only when you trigger a URL measure; you may be prompted per host.
  • Content script runs only on official chillyproxy.com pages (Bandwidth tool), not on random sites.

Note for reviewers No Chilly account is required to test. Add any test HTTP proxy (host:port), tap Connect, then open the Bandwidth Estimator page on chillyproxy.com to test the optional measure bridge.

Is Chilly Connect Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Chilly Connect requires a lot of sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Chilly Connect is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
