This was the 4th extension I tried after YouTube's recent UI fubar, and the only one so far that correctly ignores when you're typing in the comment/search field. You can stop searching, this is the droid you're after ;)

Fixes the recent change (May 2023) @ Youtube where spacebar now scrolls the page instead of play/pause. I can't imagine why anyone thought that was a good design idea but thankfully this extension fixes it. I can scroll comments, interact on any part of the page and space bar will do what it does best: Play & Pause. Thank you!

A new update to YouTube seems to have made it so when you press space bar the page scrolls down instead of pausing a video. This fix worked for me.
