The club by the bay runs on a season scorecard: courses, hole numbers, par and your best result on every line. A hole itself is a narrow strip of green felt held between wooden boards; at the far end sits a cup with a flag, and blue blocks lie across the lane. A putt takes one movement: drag your finger back from the ball, watch the arrow stretch out to show direction and power, and let go. After that nothing is up to you any more, and the ball rolls, comes off the boards, loses speed and drops into the cup if it arrived slowly enough.
While the ball is still moving, a short "rolling" glows at the bottom of the screen, and that is the most honest second of the round. The top of the screen always shows which hole you are on, how many strokes you have taken and how many par allows. Hit too hard and the ball comes back off the far board; hit too softly and it stops against a block, leaving the next putt from a worse position. When the hole is closed the result is compared with par: one ribbon, two or three. The scorecard keeps them beside your best stroke count.
Courses open one after another. The first is flat and friendly, freshly mown; later come corners, dead ends and a par of four or five instead of two. The caddy shop opens up gradually: Aim Line lengthens the guide arrow, Soft Bumpers make the walls return more of the ball's pace, Sweet Spot lets the cup accept slightly quicker balls, and Mulligan gives you the right to take back one stroke on every hole. Between rounds there is the caddy's notebook and the Club quiz, where correct answers build a streak. Take on every hole in the club and close the scorecard.
