Fades de Mormur

This cultural app proposes a literary route of just over a kilometer following the statues of the fairies of Balaguer, installed by the Paeria (the local council) in 2023 at various points in the lower parts of the town's old quarter. These statues represent the fairies who star in the poetic allegory The Fairies of Montmur, by Josep Carner-Ribalta (Balaguer, 1898 – Simi Valley, California, 1988).

This itinerary emphasizes the texts of this work and others by the author, their interpretation, the figure of Carner-Ribalta and some of his experiences in Balaguer, as well as the motivation that led him to write Les hades.

The app provides texts and audio in Catalan about each of the imagined fairies of Montmur, now known as Mormur, a peak that overlooks part of the Secans de la Noguera natural area and which Carner-Ribalta imagined as the land of fairies.

Users can follow the route using GPS location, or access the content for each of the fairies of Mormur or fairies of Balaguer from their own location. The content is designed to encourage reading the work, which is included in facsimile version within the application.

This literary route will allow you to:

1. Immerse yourself in the fantastical world of fairies created by Carner-Ribalta while exploring the old town of Balaguer.

2. Stroll through the streets of Balaguer's historic district.

3. Discover a remarkable work of prose poetry.

4. Listen to the audio of selected texts directly on your mobile device or in your vehicle via Bluetooth.

5. Explore the content of selected texts before starting the route (although we suggest reading them from beginning to end to fully appreciate them).

6. Discover the secrets hidden within the poetic allegory "The Fairies of Montmur" and access a reading guide (in the credits section), which can be very helpful before reading the original version, which you can also download.

The app allows you to stop wherever you like and, at any time and with complete freedom, reread the texts and listen to the audio included in the route.
