Stock your shelves with herbs, stones, and gems: chamomile and lavender, river pebbles and moonstone. Plant cuttings in the garden, set seed crystals in the cellar grotto, and come back when they are ready. Everything grows on its own honest clock, even while the app is closed. Walk out to the meadow for what grows wild, dig the cellar by lantern light, and cast a line at the lake when the fish are in. Settle a good catch into a stew pond and it quietly becomes more of itself.

PREPARE WITH CARE
Every ingredient wants a little attention before it is ready. Wash and dry your herbs, rinse and polish your stones. Each step is its own small ritual, and you keep learning new techniques as your craft grows.

Twenty-five blooms carry a meaning in the old language of flowers. Rosemary is for remembrance, thyme for courage, chamomile for comfort. A table by the hearth is where you tie them together, and the village soon stops asking only for bottles: a wedding, a leaving, a long winter, an anniversary nobody mentions. Any bouquet is gratefully taken, and one that actually says the thing pays more.

MEET THE NEIGHBORS
Otto the beekeeper, Miss Juniper, Old Man Alder, Granny Bramble, Hazel, and Mallow the flower-seller each have a story to follow and favors to ask. They thank you with rare seeds, keepsakes for your shelves, and recipes nobody else remembers.

A CAT, A PARCEL, AND SOME NIGHTS THE MOON
A stray wanders up the lane once you have settled in. Name it and it moves in for good, dozing by the lit hearth and leaving little presents by the workshop door. Maribel keeps sending parcels too. Every so often the world outside goes to dusk, with stars, fireflies, an owl by the shore, and a silver lake that gives up the Moonfish and the Moonsnail it never offers by day.

DECORATE THE COTTAGE
Arrange every shelf, cabinet, and trinket, with close to fifty places to stand what you are given. Move the cauldron to the window if that is where it belongs. Find the stairs and a whole loft opens above, and each storey wears whichever colour you choose.
