browser-reader-alpha Firefox

browser-reader-alpha

Auto-scrolling reader where pages stay still as you read them. Read naturally top-to-bottom while the next page progressively reveals from above, sliding down to cover the current page. No chasing moving text - content stays stable under your eyes

Features & Capabilities

Development version of https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/scroll-it/.

Because of non-trivial UX I need to be able to install the extension on my devices and use it for extended period before I can release it to public. I haven't found any other way to allow private releases on existing extension, so creating this separate extension instead which will be the same extension, but from develop branch.

Auto-scrolling reader where pages stay still as you read them. Read naturally top-to-bottom while the next page progressively reveals from above, sliding down to cover the current page. No chasing moving text - content stays stable under your eyes.

Scroll lets you read pages naturally (top-to-bottom) while the next page automatically reveals from above, progressively sliding down to cover what you've already read.

How it's different from traditional auto-scrolling:

  • Traditional auto-scrolling: The entire document constantly moves upward. You must chase the text with your eyes as it slides up the screen while reading.
  • This extension: Text stays completely stationary while you read it. You read each page top-to-bottom like a book. As you read down, the next page progressively reveals from the top, sliding down to overlay the current page. By the time you reach the bottom, the next page has fully revealed and you continue reading.

Key benefit: Read with natural top-to-bottom eye movement. Text stays still under your eyes - no chasing or tracking moving content.

Features:

  • Stationary text: Content doesn't move while you're reading it
  • Progressive page reveal: Next page slides down from top as you read
  • Adjustable pace: Press spacebar to slow down 3x
  • Instant toggle: Ctrl+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on Mac)
  • Pause/resume: Click anywhere
  • Manual control: Mouse wheel to go forward/backward

Perfect for long articles, documentation, or ebooks where you want natural, comfortable reading without eye strain from tracking moving text.
