CheckSM

The CHECKSM App is an important tool to aid in the screening or diagnosis of metabolic syndrome. It is based on the evaluation of the components defined by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), American Heart Association (AHA) and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) (2009) that include: previous diagnosis or treatment for diabetes, arterial hypertension or dyslipidemia; in addition to information on systemic blood pressure; waist circumference; and laboratory test results for fasting blood glucose, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides. It is noteworthy that the calculations can be performed for South American, Central American and South Asian individuals, in view of the waist circumference reference value adopted according to parameters defined by the IDF.

CHECKSM has two distinct access profiles: user and health professionals. In addition to the calculation of Metabolic Syndrome, information about the Metabolic Syndrome, the harmonized criteria, forms of prevention and treatment are also available in the App.
