User Reviews

Users praise Blue Blocker for strong blocking of bots/trolls and mental-health benefits, calling it essential. However, reliability is hampered by maintenance gaps, X.com compatibility issues, and recurring errors. Notable bugs include non-working skip-retweet settings and followed-account blocking, plus a cumbersome update/install process. When it’s working, it’s powerful; when not, it’s brittle and poorly maintained.
Pros
  • Strong blocking of bots/tollowers and other unwanted accounts, improving the Twitter/X experience and mental health.
  • Widely regarded as an essential feature that helps users navigate Twitter/X amid paid exposure and high bot activity.
  • Reliable and effective when it’s functioning, with users noting smooth performance and positive results.
  • Can run as a temporary add-on and still block effectively, offering flexibility in installation.
  • Users describe the add-on as incredible and the best thing to happen to Twitter, underscoring its value when working.
Cons
  • Long-term maintenance gap: many reports of no updates for months and ongoing errors, suggesting the project is abandoned or under-supported.
  • Compatibility problems after Twitter’s switch to X.com, including outdated domain checks and slow/patched updates, leading to non-functionality for many users.
  • Specific feature bugs like the "Skip blocking retweets from people I follow" setting not working and occasional blocking of followed accounts.
  • Frequent errors, popups, and occasional account logout when blocking too quickly, reducing reliability.
  • Cumbersome installation/update process (often requiring manual GitHub/temporary add-on installs) and slow or uncertain Mozilla approval.

IMPORTANT!!! DANGEROUS!!!! PLEASE READ!!! New updates to X (twitter) cause this extension to PERMANENTLY SUSPEND your account for "Inauthentic Behaviours". Here is an extract from that X policy: "Unauthorized automation: Automated or scripted accounts that do not comply with our Developer Policy. Please note that as a user you are ultimately responsible for third-party applications you may authorize to access or use your account. " You can appeal, but without having the knowledge that its this extension causing the suspensions, you will be immediately re-suspended upon opening the website. This has happened to me THREE times now in 10 days, each time the appeal goes through and I am immediately re-suspended & forced to make another appeal. PLEASE, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS UNLESS ITS BEEN UPDATED!!

It was working fine yesterday after I installed it on Android, set the interval to 20s and kept browsing. I just installed it on my PC, configured it the same way, and a minute later -I kid you not- I got hit with "Your account, XXXXXXX, was reported and has been suspended for violating the X Rules. Specifically, for: Violating our rules against inauthentic behaviors." I don't do content farming, account automations or anything related. I don't even have multiple accounts. I'm speechless; literally and figuratively. Edit: It may have nothing to do with this add-on. Twitterhelp on Reddit is filled with posts from suspended people. It seems there's been some kind of wrongful banwave.

it was quite helpful accompanying me while i had my manual blocking spree, picking at users i missed. it would be even better if a whitelist was included, or if it supported wildcards (assuming it doesn't) like how i have a phrase but there's something in the middle like "keyword (something) keyword". or if it included the ability to block based on words in the bio thank you
