With a recent update for Chrome Beta, the default right-click menu option to search with Google began opening results in a side panel, seemingly now impossible to disable with flags. This extension brings back the familiar functionality by restoring the old context menu button to search the selected text with Google in a new tab instead. It's important to note that this extension does not replace the default menu item; it simply adds an additional option, as default menu items cannot be adjusted.
Update 2023-07-20: Today's update for Chrome Beta (116.0.5845.42) has implemented a Right-click menu option to search selected text in a New Tab, rendering this extension mostly useless. I'll keep it up on the store for now though, in case anyone is using the affected version or has a specific use case for it. Thank you Google :)
For me, this new "feature" of the side panel has just appeared as of 08/2023. It is such a despicable waste of effort and space for every person involved - the poor coders who had to make this abomination, the beta testers who have had to suffer through it longer than the rest of us, and us regular consumers who are now hoping for a faster crawl toward death to avoid laying our eyes upon this wretched side panel any longer. I am beyond appalled and disappointed with Google for implementing this "feature" in such a violent way - why is there no ability to return to the old functionality? Or even just disable it? I hope the people who thought up this horrid thing are cursed with hyperhidrosis and a constant itch just out of reach. Thank you to this kind person for creating an extension to right Google's wrongs.
