BibBot ist eine praktische Chrome-Erweiterung, die es Nutzern ermöglicht, Paywalls deutscher Nachrichtenseiten zu umgehen, indem sie auf Inhalte aus Bibliotheksdatenbanken zugreift. Voraussetzung ist ein gültiges Bibliothekskonto mit Pressedatenbankzugang. Sobald Sie auf einen Artikel mit Paywall stoßen, öffnet BibBot automatisch einen Hintergrundtab, der den Artikel im digitalen Bibliotheksangebot sucht. Ist der Artikel verfügbar, ersetzt der gefundene Inhalt die Paywall direkt im Browser.

Diese Erweiterung funktioniert unter anderem auf bekannten Seiten wie Spiegel.de, ZEIT.de und Welt.de. Der Vorteil liegt in der kostengünstigeren Nutzung von Medieninhalten über Bibliothekszugänge im Vergleich zu teuren Abonnements der Verlage. Beachten Sie, dass nicht alle Artikel unmittelbar im Bibliotheksangebot verfügbar sind.
