Better Color Picker Firefox

Better Color Picker

Replaces Firefox's native color picker for color input with a modern interface. Supports HEX, RGB, and HSL formats, includes an eyedropper tool, tracks recent colors, and adapts to dark mode.

Features & Capabilities

Better Color Picker replaces Firefox's native OS color picker for <input type="color"> with a modern, feature-rich interface that makes color selection faster and more intuitive.

1 - Key Features

  • Gradient Selector – Click or drag on the saturation/lightness gradient for precise color control
  • Rainbow Hue Slider – Smoothly adjust hue across the full color spectrum
  • Hex Input – Type hex color codes with real-time validation
  • Recent Colors – Automatically saves your last 14 colors for quick reuse
  • Universal Compatibility – Works seamlessly on all websites with color input elements
2 - How It Works

Click any color input (<input type="color">) on any webpage. Instead of the OS native picker, you'll see the custom interface.

You can:

  • Select colors visually using the gradient area and hue slider
  • Type hex codes directly
  • Access your automatically saved recent colors
3 - Privacy & Permissions
  • Recent colors are stored locally using Firefox’s storage API.
  • The extension requires access to all websites to intercept color inputs.
  • No data is collected, tracked, or transmitted.

User Reviews

I really like this extension. For some reason, the eyedropper didn't work at first. Oddly, it started working after I disabled and re-enabled it. The Firefox community has been waiting for an extension like this for a long time.
