Review summary

Users broadly praise BeeLine Reader for improving readability and aiding ADHD, with color-coding and line-tracking that help with long-form content. Many find it useful for study or technical material. But recurring issues limit its value: reliability problems where it fails to apply, slow page loads, and distracting pop-ups. The paid/subscription model is controversial, and several reviews note unclear upfront pricing. Other concerns include lack of updates, bugs (e.g., random capitalization), privacy questions, and limited compatibility (Firefox mobile, some sites). Overall, the benefits are real when it works, but reliability and pricing hinder its usefulness.
Pros
  • Significantly improves readability of long blocks of text when it works.
  • Helps with ADHD/attention and can improve reading speed and comprehension.
  • Color-coding of lines/words with customizable color schemes aids focus and tracking.
  • Useful for study, school, and technical documentation over time.
  • Widely appreciated by users with dyslexia/ADHD as an accessibility aid.
Cons
  • Requires a paid subscription / paywall, with pricing not clearly disclosed upfront in some reviews.
  • Reliability is inconsistent; it often fails to apply or works only on some pages.
  • Performance issues like page loading delays or slowdowns when enabled.
  • Compatibility limitations (not available on mobile Firefox; not works well on certain sites or school portals).
  • Privacy concerns and unclear data handling, including questions about data logging.

2025-12-19 Si***** It's a good idea and when it works it's helpful. Unfortunately that isn't very often. After a few days of use I've gotten it to work on about 10% of pages. The benefits are too small to justify the time and effort that goes into fiddling with it, and definitely don't justify paying for it.

2025-04-16 fd***** This extension has started randomly capitalizing letters as it colors them, how this made it past testing is beyond me. I'm a paying customer and I'm seriously reconsidering cancelling my subscription depending on how long this takes to be fixed. Also why has this extension not been updated since 2021?

2025-02-01 Fi***** Got it to help with my ADHD when trying to read large amounts of text. Instead the extention became yet another distraction I had to deal with. Frequent pop-ups notifying me of things which don't apply to me, like that it now works on iOS, or asking me to sign up for a free-trial or pay them money for something I've not even started to use. It is, for me at least, completely useless.

2025-01-15 Bi***** Used to be good, I will not be paying for the simple feature of changing the text colours. simple colour changes should have remained free as forcing users to pay makes what used to be an accessibility tool inaccessible to most people.

2024-03-20 Be***** v2.16 Was active but had no effect on sites, even after attempting to apply. Looking at features, i don't see significant benefit anyways. Use the built in reader mode and the Stylus extension to get more benefit and flexibility.
