Genart

Genart draws wallpapers from mathematics, entirely on your phone.

Pick a generator, shuffle until something catches your eye, tune it, and save it to your gallery at full resolution. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to create.


EVERY IMAGE IS A CODE

Each picture Genart makes carries a short code, like SY-1SCAESMYP. That code is the picture: type it back in, on this phone or any other, and the same image returns pixel for pixel. Copy it, write it down, send it to a friend.

The codes are built to survive being read aloud and typed by hand. Their alphabet leaves out I, L, O and U, so there is never a guess between 1 and l, or between 0 and O.


SIX GENERATORS

Deliberately different in character, rather than six variations on one idea:

• Truchet — geometric, hard-edged, recursive
• Flow Field — organic, flowing, layered
• Symmetry — wallpaper groups, smooth colour fields
• Ripple — radial waves in interference
• Harmonograph — rosettes in fine line, on a turning table
• Phyllotaxis — golden-angle packing, spiral arms


CONTROLS THAT STAY OUT OF THE WAY

• Eight palettes: Nord, Riso, Cinder, Sencha, Ultramarine, Clay, Graphite, Ember
• Seven backgrounds in each palette, plus any colour you pick yourself
• Density and Weight sliders
• Shuffle for something new, and a back button that returns to the last image you saw

Every one of those settings is carried in the code, so nothing you adjust is lost when you share it.


MADE FOR YOUR HOME SCREEN

Images export at 1440 by 3120 and save straight to Pictures/Genart in your gallery. The preview you tune is a true scale model of the file you get, so what you see is what you save.


PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION

Genart has no internet permission. Not a promise that nothing is sent — Android itself cannot let it, because the permission is not there.

• Works in airplane mode, indefinitely
