Freestyle gomoku on a board of fifteen lines by fifteen, laid out like a Japanese journal page in sumi ink, rice paper and vermilion. Ink plays first, Paper replies, one stone per turn, and the first unbroken line of 5 stones across, down or diagonally finishes first. Six or more in a row counts too.
One — Choose an opponent: Pebble takes an open line and often blocks, Brook weighs every line, building threes and blocking fours, and Mountain reads chains of fours for both sides before it moves. A friend can join for pass and play on one device.
Two — Pick your stones, Ink to open or Paper to reply, then begin. Undo and hint are always at hand, and a game record lists every move with board coordinates a–o and 1–15.
Three — Problems: 24 positions from real games, each checked by a solver, where you play Ink against the strongest defence and must finish within a set number of moves, from one up to four. Solve one without a hint for a clean seal.
Four — Daily problem: one position each day, turned to a fresh angle, with a day streak and a week of seals. The journal keeps games played, finishes in first place against the bots, your longest run, fewest moves, problems solved, stones placed, results per opponent and the last 25 games with small diagrams.
Five — Quiz: 10 questions per round from 26 real facts on go, gomoku and East Asian board games, with a note in the margin after each answer. The animated background lets ink rings bloom slowly on the paper, and you can switch it off in Settings next to haptics, board coordinates, a How to play guide and a progress reset. The game plays fully offline with no account needed.
