Who is the Imposter?

Who is the Imposter? is a social word game for three to twenty-five players. Everyone gets the same secret word, except one player: the imposter. That player does not know the word and has to talk along as if they do.

Each player gives a clue about the word in turn. Too obvious and the imposter guesses along. Too vague and the group starts to doubt you. Then comes the discussion, and the group votes on who has to leave.

There are two ways to play.

On one phone. The host adds everyone and the device goes around, screen shielded. Each player holds a button for two seconds to see their card, and the card covers itself again afterwards. No internet is needed, so this works in the car, at a campsite or at a table without coverage.

Online on separate phones. The host creates a room and shares the code or the link. Everyone plays on their own screen and only sees their own card.

AI players may join when too few people are around. You will not hear who.

Also:
No account, no sign-up, no ads.
More than six hundred word pairs.
Dutch, English and Turkish, switchable during play.
Adjustable number of imposters, clue rounds, pace and discussion length.
Scoring across several rounds, so a series ends with a winner.

Rooms disappear automatically after twelve hours. No profile is built.

The game also runs in the browser at games.hisarweb.be.
