2024-09-04 | Ken Sim | en | The extension works pretty well and is convenient for screen recordings using the Layerpath cloud application. However, there are a large number of scripting errors that show up in the browser inspector and as a web developer who uses this inspector religiously, all these errors are getting in the way of doing my work. It has come to the point where I need to disable this extension just so I can do my daily tasks and only enable it when I need it. As mentioned by a previous reviewer using Ctrl+E is already used by Chrome itself and selecting the menu Options only takes you to a blank page. In order to change the hotkey you need to access the Extensions Settings and select the Keyboard shortcuts menu. From there you can change this hotkey. But when you do the app still indicates you should use Ctrl+E to start/stop the recording.
2024-08-01 | P. | en | The extension works well and is quite handy for initiating and ending the screen recordings using the Layerpath cloud application. However, there are currently two issues/limitations with the extension. The first is that you cannot select the areas of the browser window that you want to record. For example, it automatically removes the browser menu bar and browser toolbar from the recording. While this may work for some recordings, it is problematic if you need to record those sections as part of your tutorial. The other issue is that in the extension instructions, it says to use Ctrl-E to initiate/end recording. However, in most Windows browser applications (Chrome, Edge, etc.), this shortcut normally directs the cursor to the search bar/browser field. This issue seems to be resolved in Edge if I manually add Ctrl-E to the keyboard shortcuts through the browser settings or change the shortcut to something new. However, Ctrl-E is still finicky in Chrome and doesn't always work as a recording shortcut. Therefore, the default shortcut needs to be changed to something that does not conflict with Windows preset shortcuts so users don't have to find workarounds and mess with their browser settings.
