GridSentinel: Battery Control

GridSentinel gives your home battery a smarter way to respond to Amber Electric's wholesale electricity prices. Works with Tesla Powerwall, Sigenergy and FoxESS, with more brands coming soon.

Instead of manually watching prices and guessing what to do next, GridSentinel watches the 5-minute buy and feed-in prices for you and acts on them.

You can let the Forecast Optimiser make the decisions, or set your own rules if you prefer to stay in control. Either way, GridSentinel keeps working in the background, so your battery can respond without you constantly checking the app.

And it does not hide what it is doing. Every decision includes a plain-English reason, so you can see what changed, why it changed, and what your battery is doing next.

Home battery automation for Amber Electric

GridSentinel is built for Australian homes with a supported battery and an active Amber Electric account. It uses Amber's wholesale prices to help your battery:

• Charge when grid electricity is cheap
• Export when feed-in prices spike
• Avoid exporting solar at a loss when feed-in prices go negative
• Hold stored energy for periods where it is worth more
• Keep the minimum battery reserve you choose

Choose how your battery runs

Forecast Optimiser

Plans ahead rather than reacting to the current price. Every five minutes it re-plans around:

• What your home actually uses, learned over time
• Amber's price forecast
• The weather at your location, to predict your likely solar generation
• Your battery's live charge level, capacity and power limits

Then it works out whether your stored energy is worth more sold into this spike or held for a better one later, while keeping the reserve you set. You choose how hard it works your battery: Battery Saver, Balanced or Maximiser.

Smart Rules. Build your own automation from conditions like Amber prices, battery charge, solar generation and time of day.

Basic Rules. Set simple price points for charging and exporting, without the extra conditions.

Manual override

Take over whenever you want. Force your battery to charge, export, curtail solar, or go back to self-consumption for 15 minutes up to 2 hours, then normal automation resumes.

See Amber's actual and forecast wholesale prices alongside what your battery actually did. The chart marks every charge, export, curtail and mode change, so you can see how your battery responded across the day.

GridSentinel is a paid subscription, monthly or yearly, with a 1-month free trial. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your Google Play subscriptions.

Earnings shown in the app are estimates based on battery telemetry and Amber price data. Actual results depend on prices, your household's usage, solar, battery capacity and limits. They may differ from your final electricity bill.
