FairFare – Fair Trade Taxi

FairFare is the taxi app where the price is agreed between two people, instead of being set by a company in another country.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Say where you are going.
2. Set what the ride is worth to you. The slider starts at zero — FairFare never suggests a number and never calculates a fare.
3. Drivers nearby see your offer as kroner per kilometre and decide for themselves whether it is worth driving. Watch them enter your offer as you move the slider.
4. When a driver accepts, you see the name, the car, its colour and the licence plate — and you follow the car on the map until it arrives.

THE SAME NUMBER FOR BOTH
Passenger and driver see the same price before the ride starts. Nothing is added along the way and there is no surprise at the end. No surge multiplier, no meter, no hidden commission model.

LICENSED NORWEGIAN OPERATORS
Every driver drives for a registered Norwegian licence holder, with a valid kjøreseddel and a løyve on the vehicle, checked against the public registers. Insurance and licence status are conditions for being allowed to work — not a promise in the marketing copy.

ONE APP, WHICHEVER SIDE YOU ARE ON
Log in as a passenger, a driver or a licence holder, and the app opens the part that belongs to you. Drivers set their own minimum rate per kilometre and pick the rides that clear it. Licence holders register their vehicles and drivers, and see their cars working.

WHY WE BUILT IT
When the Norwegian taxi market was deregulated, global apps arrived with enough capital to buy market share. For a while it looked cheap — but it was the driver's share that paid for the discount, set by an algorithm nobody was allowed to see. "Fair trade" means the same thing here as it does on a bag of coffee: the person doing the work keeps enough to carry on doing it.
