One question a day, with no right answer.

Zwickmühle poses you exactly one question a day, each with two possible answers. You tap A or B. The result appears instantly: how many others chose the same option as you. Fifteen seconds, no login screen, no account, no ads.

The only requirement for each of the 365 questions is that both answers must have a justification that no one would be ashamed of. A question with an obviously correct answer isn't even included in the app.

Three real-life examples from the corpus:

Put the bottle next to the trash can for collectors, or take the bottle and return it at home.

A colleague asks you directly what you earn: state the figure honestly, or dodge the question—it's private.

Try something big and fail, or do something small with confidence.

A typical day unfolds:

The app opens directly to today's question. No welcome screen, no email check.

You read a question and two answers. No image, no video, just text.

You tap A or B. A short vibration confirms your choice, and that's it for today.

The result appears immediately: a bar, a percentage, the number of votes.

If you like, you can categorize your answer with a tap: gut feeling, principle, or experience. Skipping is the norm.

Your streak continues for the next day, and tomorrow the app will remind you at a time of your choosing.

It's not visible before then. A percentage you know in advance will change your answer.

Six categories, 365 questions

Everyday Life, 90 questions. The country you actually live in: deposits, long weekends, weekly cleaning rota, Sunday rest, train versus car.

Profound, 70 questions. Time, origins, traces, and what remains. No platitudes.

Morality, 60 questions. Rule versus consequence, in situations a person actually finds themselves in. No streetcars.

Relationships, 55 questions. Friendship, family, partnership, loyalty.

Money and work, 50 questions. Security versus freedom, advancement versus contentment, the salary taboo.

Absurd, 40 questions. The calendar's outlet. Easy, but still a real dilemma.

What it costs

Free and permanent: the question of the day, your vote, the community result, your series, the daily reminder, and the last three days in the archive.

A one-time fee of €4.99, if you want: the complete archive of all previously published questions, each with your answer and the final result. No subscription, no trial period, no automatic renewal. Recoverable on a new device via "Restore Purchases."

What doesn't happen

No user account, no email address, no password.

No analytics software, no advertising, no advertising ID.

No push notifications. The daily reminder is calculated on your device and never leaves it.

No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone.

In the settings, you'll find "Delete all my data." This takes effect immediately and is irreversible.

A random key, generated by the app upon first launch, and your answers are stored. The key isn't linked to any name but allows us to associate recurring use with the same device. Therefore, we treat it as personal data rather than downplaying its significance. One consequence of this is stated honestly here, instead of hidden in the privacy policy: If you reinstall the app or change phones, the key is lost, and the series starts again from zero. Archive purchases are not affected.

Who writes the questions?

People, in German, specifically for this app. No question is taken from any existing German question bank, not even rephrased. Translated questions can be identified by the fact that they don't take place in any country and don't include terms like "Kehrwoche" (weekly cleaning rota) or "Brückentag" (a public holiday). An English version would therefore be a different app with a different set of questions, and it doesn't exist.
