Concert Companion: Practice

Concert Companion is two things in one app.

A library of opera, lieder and oratorio with everything you need to actually learn the music: the sung text, the pronunciation, and what it means. And a practice planner that turns your repertoire and your concert dates into a plan for today.

THE LIBRARY

Search more than 95,000 arias, songs and numbers. Over 2,000 works are built out in full, line by line:

- The sung text, as the composer set it.
- An IPA pronunciation line under every line of text.
- An idiomatic translation, plus a word-for-word gloss. Tap any single word to see what it means.
- Audio on more than 4,500 numbers, so you can hear the text before you sing it.

Inside: over 300 operas, more than 1,600 lieder and art songs, plus oratorios, Passions, operettas and zarzuela. In Italian, German, French, English, Russian, Czech, Spanish, Latin and Polish. More than 250 composers, from Monteverdi and Purcell through Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner and Puccini to Mahler, Debussy, Fauré and Poulenc.

Choose your role and the app shows you your part: your lines, your recitatives, your cues. Historic recordings from the 78rpm era sit on the aria page, so you can hear how it was sung a hundred years ago.

LEARNING IT

- Memorization trainer. Listen, speak and recall sessions, plus five games that take the text away a piece at a time until you have it by heart.
- Diction. An IPA course from the beginning, and deeper pronunciation courses for German, French, Italian and Russian.
- Opera dictionary. More than 55,000 sung words across nine languages, each with its meaning, its grammar, and real examples from the repertoire.
- Voice and Fach. Map your voice and see the roles that actually fit it.

THE PRACTICE HALF

- Practice planner. Open the app and it tells you what to work on today, then maps out the days and weeks ahead, built from the pieces you are learning and the concerts coming up.
- Repertoire. Add a piece, split it into movements or numbers, and mark where each one stands: Learning, Performable, Maintained. Each one keeps its own progress.
- Programs and concerts. Build reusable programs and schedule concerts, auditions and lessons. For each one you see which pieces are ready and which still need work. As the date gets close, the app shifts into Performance Prep and starts pushing full run-throughs over picking at single passages.
- Diary. Notes on a session, a piece, a concert. Encrypted at rest, including in our backups.
- Timer and recording. Time your sessions, and record takes straight into the app, pinned to the piece, so next time you can hear where you left off.
- Stats. Time per piece, where the hours actually went, what you have touched lately. Useful in lessons.

FOR WHOM

Working musicians and conservatoire students, whatever you play. The planner, programs, diary and concert prep work the same for everyone. The library is where singers get the most out of it: a first role, or a whole season of them, plus the repetiteurs and pianists who play for them.

PRICING

Free: three complete works, open from the day you install. Le nozze di Figaro, Winterreise, and the Matthäus-Passion. Plus three more pieces of your own choosing from anywhere in the library, unlocked in full with audio. Everything else shows you the opening lines. On the practice side, free covers 10 tracked movements, 3 concerts and events, and 5 recordings.

Pro opens the whole library, adds a whole role or work to your repertoire in one tap, and lifts the practice limits. It also unlocks Performance Prep, the metronome, long-term goals, a longer planning horizon, and your full stats history.

PRIVACY

Your diary entries and notes are encrypted at rest, including in our backups. We do not sell your data. Deleting your account is one tap, and it is permanent.
