Due to the usage of OpenStreetMap, it contains more detailed maps than the default Google Maps app. This makes it feel more like using a traditional detailed paper map and gives a better situational awareness. One good improvement could be to (optionally) also let it take the actual traffic (congestion) situation into account and suggest alternative routes.
