Seasons and Music, Movies, Books, and Art (Every 5 Days)

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Did you know that the names of the seasons actually change every five days? 🌸

"The nightingale sings," "The first peach blossoms," "Warm breezes arrive." There's a calendar called the 72 microseasons (Shichijuniko) where small changes in plants, animals, and weather are directly reflected in the names. Originating in ancient China and updated in the Edo period to suit Japan's climate, it's essentially a calendar designed to "increase the resolution of the seasons" 📝

"Nanani" is an app that encapsulates all 72 microseasons 🌿

◆ See the current microseason at a glance

By placing a widget on your home screen or lock screen, you can stay connected to the current season without opening the calendar 📱 Available in four themes: Teal, Lavender, Sakura, and Black. You'll even get a notification that gently reminds you when the seasons change 🔔 It's quite common to suddenly realize, "Wow, the seasons have progressed so much already!" lol

◆ The Sound of the Seasons: Music, Movies, Books, and Art Matching the Seasons
For each of the 72 seasons, we've selected one music album, movie, book, or art piece that perfectly captures the atmosphere 🎨🎵📖🎬 The changing seasons subtly shift our moods without us even noticing. They can be a hint for when you're feeling a certain way, or a gateway to a new world. You don't need to experience everything; even just one that catches your eye is enough, so feel free to take a look! ✨

◆ Explanations for Each Season and Enjoying the Seasonal Delights
Each season comes with a mini-guide to help you enjoy the season even more 📖 We also introduce seasonal vegetables, fish, and meats, so it can be a helpful shopping tip 🐟🥬 Even inspiring recipes are included. Let's enjoy the seasons with all our senses! 🍂

◆ Classical Words Hidden in the Calendar
The 72 microseasons have a beautiful correspondence with the ancient Chinese classic, the I Ching (Book of Changes) 📜. Scholars of the Han dynasty assigned six lines to each of the 12 hexagrams, resulting in 12 x 6 = 72. This perfectly matches the number of microseasons 🌿. Therefore, each microseason is accompanied by a corresponding classical phrase. Imagine gazing at the seasonal scenery alongside 2000-year-old philosophy. Isn't that a little luxurious? 🕰️

Even amidst our busy daily lives, the seasons continue to cycle.

Let's gently embrace that rhythm~ 🍃
