LumeDrop Android

LumeDrop

Send files screen-to-camera. No network, no cloud, no account.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

LumeDrop moves a file from one device's screen to another device's camera. The sending device shows a sequence of optical codes; the receiving device reads them through its camera. That is the whole channel.

Nothing is uploaded. Your file never travels over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a local network or a cloud server — and you do not have to take that on trust. Look at the permission list on this page: there is no internet permission. The app cannot reach a network, so your content cannot leave through one.

HOW IT WORKS
- On the receiving device, tap Receive. It shows a code.
- On the sending device, tap Send, choose a file, and scan that code.
- Hold the two screens facing each other until the transfer finishes.

WHERE IT HELPS
- Two devices that are not on the same network, and should not be
- Machines kept deliberately offline
- Guest or conference Wi-Fi you would rather not join
- Two phones belonging to different people, with no accounts, numbers or addresses exchanged

ENCRYPTED AND VERIFIED
Every transfer performs a key agreement and is encrypted end to end. The receiver verifies what it has assembled before anything is written to storage, so an incomplete or corrupted read fails instead of saving a broken file.

NO ACCOUNT, NO ANALYTICS
There is no sign-up and no profile. The app gathers nothing about you, and has nowhere to send it if it did.

HONEST ABOUT SPEED
Light is a modest channel. Measured device-to-device, a transfer sustains roughly 9-12 kB/s, so a one-megabyte file takes a minute or two of holding two devices steady. LumeDrop is for the files where the route matters more than the speed.

FREE AND PRO
Sending files up to 1 MB is free. Receiving is always free and unlimited. LumeDrop Pro is a one-time purchase — no subscription — that raises the sending limit and adds multiple-file and batch transfers.

PERMISSIONS
Camera, to read the optical codes. Vibration, for the haptic cues when a transfer is detected, completes or fails. Nothing else.
