Mouse Ripple: moves your mouse Android

Mouse Ripple: moves your mouse

Prevents a computer screen lock by simulating the movement of an LED mouse.

Features & Capabilities

Mouse Ripple is a minimal utility that keeps your computer awake by periodically displaying a subtle mesh image and moving the mouse. It requires no network setup and leverages your phone to trigger small cursor movements, keeping the screen active even when you cannot disable the OS lock.

Use cases include dashboards, long-running tasks, presentations, webinar viewing, and remote monitoring. The interval is configurable from 20 seconds to 10 minutes. The app works with certain LED optical mice and does not guarantee compatibility with all models. If needed, adjust screen brightness or enable Glide mode. Ads may be shown, but a paid option can disable them.

User Reviews

Mouse Ripple is a useful app that keeps a computer's mouse active by simulating movement using the phone's light sensor, effectively preventing status timeouts in applications like Teams. It works best with red infrared light optical mice and requires the phone screen brightness to be high. Some users experience battery drain and find that ads disrupt usage unless they pay for an ad-free version. Compatibility issues exist with laser and gaming mice as well as certain Logitech and work computers. The developers have responded to feedback with improvements, making the app more reliable.
Pros
  • Effectively prevents mouse from going idle, keeping status active in chat programs like Teams.
  • Works well with optical mice that have a red infrared light sensor.
  • Simple and straightforward to use, fulfilling its intended purpose reliably.
  • Updates and developer responsiveness have improved app functionality over time.
  • Can be used to avoid automatic logouts or status changes on work computers.
Cons
  • Does not work reliably with laser or gaming mice, only certain optical mice are compatible.
  • Requires the phone screen to be at full brightness and sometimes needs to be charging to function properly, impacting battery life.
  • App displays ads and forces upgrade prompts that disrupt functionality unless paid to remove.
  • Not compatible with some Logitech mice and company/work computers due to software restrictions.
  • Sound notifications cannot be disabled, which can be inconvenient for some users.

This works great. I can walk away and my mouse's infrared light catches the movement. For my mouse it works best on the "Glide" setting, the other options not so much. But I just needed it to work so "Glide" it is! 😁
