BirdScribe Android

BirdScribe

Speak what you see. BirdScribe logs it and exports an eBird checklist.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Birders spend their days with their heads down in their phones. BirdScribe fixes that. Tap record, say what you see, tap stop. It handles the rest.

Eyes up, birds in.

HOW IT WORKS

Speak naturally. "Five rainbow lorikeets flying over." BirdScribe saves your words, logs where you were and when, suggests the species, and turns it into an observation you can check with one tap.

At the end of your birding session you get a CSV file formatted for import into eBird, with names matching the eBird/Clements checklist, so you are not retyping your day into a form.

BUILT ON ONE RULE

The app suggests. You confirm. Nothing is saved as a species without you tapping to agree, and an uncertain observation stays uncertain rather than being quietly upgraded to a guess. Your name goes on that checklist, so the data should be yours.

IN THE FIELD

Voice capture that keeps your eyes on the bird
Pocket Mode, so the phone can go in your pocket screen-on without stray taps logging anything
Sound bites analysed for species suggestions using BirdNET
Type a species instead of speaking when you need to stay quiet, with suggestions that work with no signal at all
Location and timing recorded as you go
Counts, heard-only records, breeding notes, ages and sexes
Merge, correct or delete an observation without losing the original
Private field notes that stay on your phone and never leave it

WHEN THE SIGNAL DROPS

Your words are saved before anything else happens. Coverage is optional. Nothing is lost because you lost phone signal.

FREE

No account. No subscription. No ads. Built by working bird guides in Tropical North Queensland.
