APA Citation Generator Firefox

APA Citation Generator

Auto-extracts metadata from webpages and journal articles and formats it as an APA 7th edition citation.

Features & Capabilities

APA Citation Generator builds correctly formatted APA 7th edition citations from the page you're viewing. No copying by hand. Open any article, journal page, video, or image and click the toolbar icon. The extension reads the page's metadata and fills in the citation automatically. Every field stays editable, so you can fix or complete anything before you copy. What it does: • Full reference-list entries for webpages, journal articles, videos, and images. • In-text citations following APA 7 rules. • Auto-detects the source type and pulls authors, title, date, publisher, DOI, and more. • Preserves italics when you copy, so references paste cleanly into Word and Google Docs.

Privacy: this extension collects and transmits no data. It reads the active tab only when you click the toolbar button, and the only output is the citation text placed on your clipboard. No tracking, no storage, no network requests.

Note: citations are only as complete as the metadata a page provides. The extension gives you a strong starting point. Always review against your style guide before submitting.
