Animana Consult AI is an intelligent clinical documentation assistant designed for veterinary professionals using IDEXX Animana. It runs directly in your Firefox sidebar alongside your open patient file, automatically reading the patient's signalment and clinical history to turn your shorthand findings into thorough, professional medical records—ready to insert straight into Animana's consult fields with a single click.

WHAT IT DOES • Consultation Notes — Enter physical exam findings into a fast-fill grid alongside brief shorthand notes. Generate a complete, structured record (History, Clinical Examination, Diagnosis/Differential, and Treatment Plan) written in polished clinical veterinary language and filled directly into Animana's consult fields.

• Interactive Dental Charting & Dentistry Suite — A complete dental charting and documentation module:

• Proportional Anatomical Charts: Full canine (42 teeth) and feline (30 teeth) charts in modified Triadan numbering, featuring clean vector outlines scaled to their true relative anatomical proportions (distinguishing petite incisors, prominent canines, and broad carnassials/molars).
• Interactive Pathology & Treatments: Rapidly mark periodontal pocketing/grades (1–3), furcation, gingivitis, calculus, fractures, resorptive lesions, extractions (with visual cross overlays), and missing teeth.
• Dental Surgical Form & AI Drafting: Dedicated dental procedure details, pre-anesthetic evaluation, anesthesia monitoring, technique steps, and home care instructions.
• High-Resolution PNG Export: Export crisp, high-resolution visual dental charts formatted ready to attach directly to the patient's Animana file.

• Patient History Briefing — Instantly summarise dense, multi-year Animana records into a clear, structured overview: active problems, current medications, surgical history, vaccination status, recent laboratory trends, and chronologically organized clinical events.

• Diagnostics Integration — Record diagnostic findings (radiographs, ultrasound, in-house cytology, blood gas, microbiology) in dedicated fields that are woven seamlessly into your clinical plan.

• Lab Result Analysis — Upload in-house or external lab reports (PDF or image). The AI extracts every analyte alongside reference ranges, highlights abnormal values, and provides differential considerations and suggested next steps.

• External Records Processing — Upload PDFs or images of medical history from referral or previous clinics to generate a clean, structured summary that integrates with the Animana record.

• Vaccination Visits — Check off administered vaccines to generate a concise, standardized vaccination certificate/consult record with automated calculation of next-due revaccination dates.

BRING YOUR OWN AI (PRIVACY FIRST) Animana Consult AI operates on a zero-middleman architecture:

• Choose Your Provider: Connect directly to your choice of Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini).
• Your Keys, Your Data: Your API key and clinical data never touch an external third-party server or middleman. Requests are dispatched directly and securely from your browser to your chosen AI provider.
• Switch Seamlessly: Switch between providers or models at any time with a single click in Settings.

YOU STAY IN FULL CONTROL The clinician remains firmly at the center of the documentation workflow:

• Every generated note appears in the Firefox sidebar for your review and editing before anything is saved or pasted into Animana.
• Edit text inline, regenerate specific sections, or insert individual fields as needed.
• The AI is strictly instructed never to fabricate diagnoses, findings, or treatments that are not grounded in your direct inputs or verified patient history.

EARLY RELEASE Animana Consult AI is in active development, and this is an early production release. We continuously refine it in daily small-animal clinical practice. New features, procedure templates, and improvements are added frequently — your feedback, suggestions, and bug reports are warmly welcomed and directly guide ongoing development.

GOOD TO KNOW

• Requires an active IDEXX Animana account and your own Anthropic or Google Gemini API key (pay-as-you-go directly with the provider; typical per-consult cost is only a fraction of a cent to a few cents depending on the model chosen).
• Built-in vaccination schedules follow standard European/Dutch companion animal protocols (Nobivac range) — please verify next-due dates against your individual practice protocol.
• This extension is an independent veterinary software tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by IDEXX Laboratories or Animana B.V.
• Patient data is processed strictly according to your configured AI provider's data protection and privacy policies.
