This extension remembers your browsing history even across opening new tabs.

Either by:

middle-click
right-click > Open link in new tab
ctrl+click
cmd+click
etc You name it, it remembers. And it doesn't just remember; you can click on the history items as well. If the tab in question is still open, it shall be selected. If the selected tab no longer exists, it will be re-opened as a new tab.
