Features & Capabilities

AlphaCode Browser Agent

AlphaCode Browser Agent is the Firefox execution bridge for AlphaCode, connecting an AI coding agent to real Firefox tabs, pages, browser state, and web interfaces.

Built by AliEssam, it provides a reliable browser automation layer for agentic development workflows, web development, testing, debugging, research, and browser-assisted coding.

What it does

AlphaCode Browser Agent lets AlphaCode operate Firefox through a native browser bridge and WebExtension APIs.

Browser automation Open, close, duplicate, reload, navigate, and switch tabs Create and manage browser windows Go backward and forward through history Control zoom and active browser context Inspect active tabs and window state Wait for navigation, page changes, and dynamic content Web page and DOM automation Find elements using CSS selectors and XPath Search by visible text, labels, placeholders, ARIA roles, names, and test IDs Inspect elements, attributes, properties, and computed state Interact with Shadow DOM Work with frames and iframes Detect and operate on interactable elements Highlight and inspect elements for debugging Input and interaction Click and double-click elements Right-click and hover Focus and blur controls Type text into inputs Press keys and keyboard shortcuts Scroll pages and elements Toggle checkboxes and radio controls Select options from forms Submit forms Drag and drop where supported Interact with dynamic single-page applications Files, media, and browser state Capture browser screenshots Work with file upload workflows Access supported download information Inspect and manage supported cookies Track browser sessions and tab state Collect browser and execution telemetry needed by the agent Agent-oriented execution

The bridge is designed for AI agents that need to inspect → reason → act → verify against a real browser.

It supports structured commands, execution status, retries, timeouts, diagnostics, native messaging, multi-tab workflows, multi-frame operations, and detailed error reporting so agent workflows can recover from common browser timing and state changes.

Designed for developers

AlphaCode Browser Agent is useful for:

AI coding agents Browser automation Web application testing Front-end development UI testing and debugging DOM inspection End-to-end workflows Form automation Browser-assisted software development Agentic web workflows Developer tooling Web research workflows

It is especially useful when an AI agent needs to move beyond generating code and actually interact with a live web application in Firefox.

Works with AlphaCode

AlphaCode is a free, open-source, terminal-native AI coding agent. This Firefox extension provides the browser execution layer that allows AlphaCode workflows to interact with real web pages.

Local execution model

The extension communicates with the locally installed AlphaCode application through Firefox native messaging.

The extension does not require a hosted browser automation service. Browser operations are performed through Firefox and the local AlphaCode bridge.

Depending on the workflow, AlphaCode may request access to page content, DOM information, screenshots, browser state, cookies, downloads, or other browser data needed to perform an explicitly requested operation.

Privacy

AlphaCode Browser Agent is designed as a local execution bridge between Firefox and the AlphaCode application.

Data accessed by the extension is used to perform browser operations requested by the user or by an authorized AlphaCode workflow. Data required by those operations can be passed through Firefox native messaging to the local AlphaCode application.

The extension does not need to operate a separate hosted browser service to perform its core browser automation functions.

Because AlphaCode can connect to configurable AI providers and other tools, users should review the privacy practices and configuration of the AlphaCode installation and any external provider used by their workflows.

Open source

AlphaCode Browser Agent is part of the broader AlphaCode project ecosystem.

Important

This extension is a browser execution bridge for AlphaCode. Full agent-driven functionality requires a compatible AlphaCode installation and native messaging configuration.

Firefox browser restrictions and website security policies may prevent specific operations on certain pages or browser-managed URLs.
