HC And - Diabetes type 1

This app "HC And - Diabetes type 1" has been developed in a collaboration between H.C. Andersen Børne- og Ungehospital, Odense Universitetshospital, hospitalized children and their families and 10:30 Visual Communication.

HC And is patient information for children aged 4-7 years and aims to prepare and reduce insecurity in children for whom many hospital concepts are completely unknown.

"HC And - Diabetes - type 1" is an introduction to a general patient course for the youngest children, their family and circle of friends. The information is with speak - of a child's voice - and animation in the genre "Learning through play with tablet / mobile phone / touch screen".

Children in this age group learn and recognize through play and concrete information. Inpatients can quickly become "filled up" with a lot of information. Therefore, HC Duck is made up of short sequences in child height, so "new" can start here.

The stories in HC Duck reflect reality and the prescribed clinical guidelines. Hospital staff can use this material as a pedagogical tool to create a common understanding framework with the child.

The focus is on security and communication at child height, so that the child can also acquire specific knowledge without the help of adults. We encourage both parents and hospital staff to use the small preparatory films in relation to and in line with the children's need for information and preparation.
