Overview

Features & Capabilities

Your phone is already a toolbox. PocketMeter turns the sensors built into your Android phone into 17 practical measuring tools — free, fully offline, with no ads, no accounts, and no data collection.

PocketMeter does not even request internet access. Everything is measured, computed, and displayed on your device. Nothing you measure can leave your phone.

🔨 CONSTRUCTION TOOLS

• Wall Wire & Metal Detector — sweep a wall to find hidden nails, screws, studs, pipes, and electrical wiring. Auto-calibrates to the ambient magnetic field, then flags deviations with a live gauge and vibration pulses that get faster and stronger as you close in.

• Bubble Level — a classic two-axis spirit level. Lay the phone on a shelf or hold it against a frame; the bubble centers and the phone ticks when you're within 1.5° of level.

• Angle Meter — rest the phone against a rafter, ramp or bracket and read the slope in degrees, as a percentage, and as the "rise in 12" figure builders use. Hold a reading, or zero the tool on one surface to measure the angle between two.

• EMF Meter — watch raw magnetic field strength in microtesla on a live scrolling graph. Spot motors, magnets, transformers, and mains wiring. Earth's normal field (25–65 µT) is your baseline.

• Flashlight — the camera flash as a steady work light, one tap.

• Sound Meter — estimate ambient noise in decibels with a live gauge, from "quiet" to "very loud".

🔬 SCIENCE TOOLS

• Compass — a smooth-rotating compass rose with your heading in degrees and cardinal directions, using filtered magnetometer + accelerometer fusion.

• Ambient Temperature — reads the built-in temperature sensor on devices that have one — and tells you honestly when your phone doesn't, instead of inventing a number.

• Barometer & Altimeter — live atmospheric pressure in hPa plus an altitude estimate, with one-tap GPS calibration to pin the day's actual sea-level pressure.

• Humidity — relative humidity from the built-in sensor with comfort ranges, on the few phones that have one.

• Proximity Sensor — the sensor that blanks your screen during calls, exposed as a near/clear indicator with a pass counter.

• Sensor Graphs — live X/Y/Z plots for the accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. A pocket oscilloscope for physics class or just curiosity.

📱 DAILY TOOLS

• GPS Speedometer — live speed in km/h and mph, plus coordinates, GPS altitude, and fix accuracy.

• Step Counter — session steps, distance and a rough energy figure from the phone's dedicated low-power step sensor.

• Light Meter — ambient brightness in lux with plain-language context, from moonlight to direct sun.

• Phone Health Monitor — battery level, temperature, voltage and health, charging source, free storage, and live RAM usage at a glance.

• Vibration Meter — a pocket seismometer: a live graph of vibrations, knocks, and shakes with peak hold.

🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• No internet permission — the app is technically incapable of uploading anything
• No account, no sign-up
• No ads, no analytics, no trackers
• Free — all 17 tools included

📏 HONEST ABOUT ACCURACY

PocketMeter reads real sensor data and tells you what it can and can't do. There is no "distance meter": phones have no laser rangefinder, and a camera guess would be wrong by metres. There is no weather forecast either — that needs the internet, which this app deliberately cannot use. Phone sensors are great for everyday jobs, but the wall detector, sound meter, and altimeter are not certified instruments — don't rely on them where a professional, calibrated tool is required for safety.

If your phone is missing a sensor (for example a barometer or temperature sensor), PocketMeter says so clearly instead of showing fake readings.

Works on Android 8.0 and newer. Adapts to phones, foldables, and tablets, with Material You dynamic color and full dark mode support.
